On My Way To Be COVID-19 Survivor

Today is the 5th day of my covid-quarantine. Me and my wife, both of us, were confirmed with COVID-19 in a PCR test last week.

At first, I take it lightly. I see no problem with staying in the house for two weeks and taking medicine. But turn out it is not as easy as it seems. Staying home, and mostly in bed is killing me. Not to mention tons of medicine and vitamin I have to take, twice or three times a day.

Anyway, living in Indonesia, within the Javanese culture, I enjoy much support from family and friend. They are really helpful.

I never have to do the grocery, my extended family has arranged it. I never cooked. Every mealtime, there is always someone at our door, providing meals for us. They are constantly checking on us, see if there is anything we need.

I guess this is the value of social capital in a relatively traditional society. The tight bond between families and community member has created a strong support system that hardly exists in modern society.
